This April, we’re preparing some great offers for PlayStation Plus that will make you think twice about going outside. For starters, we’re happy to announce the free games coming in April to Plus: PSN Game Shank 2 and PS3 Full Game Shift 2 Unleashed! You’ll be able to get these titles free in Plus starting on April 3rd and throughout the month of April. In addition, we’ve also got more free content including PSone Classic Silent Hill, PS minis Cananbalt, Farm Frenzy 2 and Mystic Garden, as well as PSN Game Frogger Returns.

Free games aren’t the only benefit to Plus. Last month saw the exclusive early access to the much-anticipated PSN game Journey. This month, you’ll be the first to try out Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier Beta!

Hefty discounts on the games you care about are always a part of Plus, and April will bring more discounts on content you love. New releases Wheels of Destruction, House of the Dead 4, and the debut of the standalone Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City will all have discounts the day they’re available to download from PlayStation Store!

You’ll also want to check out sweet free Avatars from the PS Vita hit Escape Plan, as well as PlayStation Plus exclusive avatars and themes for The House of the Dead and Devil May Cry.

This Wednesday, March 21st will see the arrival of tons of awesome new content in PlayStation Home – from Juggernaut Games’ MiniBots: Battlebox game to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker collectibles. That’s not all – we have two very special events planned for this week as well. First up is the DUST 514 live event on Thursday, March 22nd. Later that day, we’ll launch this year’s Disposable Film Fest in PlayStation Home! Here’s your to-do list for this week in PlayStation Home:

DUST 514 – Come watch CCP Games’ first public unveiling of its upcoming sci-fi shooter DUST 514, exclusive to PlayStation 3 as we stream the DUST 514 keynote of the annual EVE Fanfest live into the special “Backstage Pass” event space in PlayStation Home this Thursday, March 22nd at 9:00am PT (12:00pm ET).

Following the keynote, there will be a Live Q&A session with PlayStation Home users, fielding questions via Twitter using the hashtag #DUST514. Bonus: All users who enter the Backstage Pass event space will be rewarded an exclusive DUST 514 t-shirt for their avatars! You can visit this special event space by using the New and Recommended section on the PlayStation Home Navigator or by approaching the DUST 514 relocator in the Hub. See you there!

MiniBots: Battlebox – This Wednesday, Juggernaut Games releases an active item unlike anything you’ve ever seen in PlayStation Home. The MiniBots Battlebox allows you to build, customize and battle with a variety of bots, each with unique weapons/abilities. Peep this trailer and then pick up the MiniBots: Battlebox (and associated items) when it releases this week.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Items, Konami Ninja Costumes, Drey Updates & More – We have tons of cool collectibles coming your way this week. Game Developers Conference has officially ended for another year (sob), but we’re still preparing game demo videos and hands-on impressions to release in the weeks to come (yay!). It was a rowdy week for announcements with unveiling of Assassin’s Creed III, a tauntingly vague introduction for PSN gem Datura, a long-awaited release date for Sorcery, and news of a massive Starhawk Beta upgrade.

As announced yesterday, PSN will be in maintenance for the 2nd half of the day (Pacific time). The good thing is, everything should be tip-top for Super Tuesday. No, not talking about the Republican primaries, but the release date for Mass Effect 3, four big PS Vita games, and, if you’re a Plus subscriber, Journey. We’ll have the full release list up on the Blog later on.

Today’s probably a good day to work on those single-player campaigns; I expect to see a lot of Trophies hitting Facebook when everyone syncs back up.
